Dr. Boone is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Missouri and director of the OPEN Lab. Her research focuses on reducing the functional, everyday impact of neurological conditions.
PhD Students
Sepideh Zenoozi, MSOT
PhD Candidate, Health & Rehabilitation Science
Sepideh Zenoozi is a 4th-year PhD candidate in Health and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Missouri. She holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Her research focuses on reducing the daily functional impact of neurological conditions by using evidence-based interventions. Her work aims to improve the ability of individuals with acquired brain injuries to perform meaningful daily activities and enhance their overall quality of life.
Eduarda Campos, BSOT
PhD Candidate, Health & Rehabilitation Science
Eduarda Campos is an occupational therapist and 1st-year PhD student in Health and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Missouri. Originally from Brazil, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Sorocaba. Her clinical background includes working with children on the autism spectrum, focusing on sensory integration. Eduarda is excited to begin this new chapter in research and continue growing within the rehabilitation sciences field.
Post-Doctoral Fellows
Tim Marks, PhD, OTR/L
Tim Marks is a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Missouri. He received his Bachelor's, MSOT, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on interventions to improve participation in work and community activities post-neurological injury.
Occupational Therapy Students
Maya Broshears
Maya Broshears is a second-year OTD student at the University of Missouri. She is from St. Louis, MO, and moved to Mizzou after completing her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Psychology at Truman State University. She has assisted with various research studies, administering pre- and post-assessments to participants, assisting with data input, and providing technology support for participants.
Breanna Evans
Breanna Evans is a second-year OTD student at the University of Missouri. Her research interests include industrial ergonomics, hand therapy, and cognitive work hardening to aid in rebuilding related skills to make the transition back to the workplace more seamless.
Lucy O'Connor
Lucy O’Connor is a second-year OTD student from Kansas City, MO. She is a part of Dr. Boone’s research team focused on improving the well-being of individuals following breast cancer treatment. Her main role is recruitment of participants, which she loves as she gets the chance to hear so many impactful stories!
Lab Staff
Juliana Earwood, OTD, OTR/L
Juliana Earwood is an occupational therapist and research coordinator in the Department of Occupational Therapy at MU. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, she completed a BS in Health Science at Furman University and an OTD at Washington University in St. Louis. Juliana works with individuals with various conditions including stroke, cancer, post-COVID syndrome, and ALS. She is passionate about contributing to the advancement of healthcare through research, innovation, and discovery.
Meghan Doherty, OTD, OTR/L
Meghan Doherty is an occupational therapist and research professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at MU. Her research focuses on cognition and everyday activity engagement for people with experiencing stroke, brain injury, cancer, ALS, and other neurological conditions. Meghan’s favorite occupations are biking around town with her family, baking, reading, and strength training.
